About the Conference

As Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, prepares for elections at the national, state, and local government levels, concerns about the quality of leadership and governance have once again come to the fore. The dynamics of both leadership and followership remain central to sustaining democracy and advancing effective governance across the public, private, and civil society sectors. This is particularly critical as Nigeria navigates its role in a rapidly evolving global landscape shaped by technological innovation and the digital transformation of leadership and governance across various societies.

We are pleased to invite you to a conference on Leadership and Governance in Nigeria, a landmark gathering dedicated to examining the challenges and opportunities shaping the nation's future in a changing world. At this pivotal moment, the forthcoming elections present an opportunity to reimagine Nigeria's development trajectory and to redefine the role of leadership and governance in building a prosperous, functional, and inclusive society.

This one-day conference will convene policymakers, scholars, civil society actors, and private-sector leaders in an evidence-based dialogue on pathways to institutionalizing leadership and governance systems. Presentations and discussions at the conference are expected to drive socioeconomic transformation, strengthen youth participation, and promote ethical and inclusive leadership and governance.

The conference program will feature keynote addresses, thematic panels, paper presentations, and structured dialogues designed to facilitate meaningful engagement among scholars, practitioners, and emerging leaders. We invite submissions of paper abstracts and panel proposals that engage analytically, empirically, or practically with the conference theme. Interdisciplinary, policy-relevant, and practice-oriented contributions are especially encouraged.

Submissions are welcome from academics, policymakers, practitioners, civil society actors, early-career scholars, and emerging leaders. Your participation will be invaluable in shaping the outcomes of the conference and charting a path toward a future defined by ethical leadership, strong institutions, and inclusive governance. We look forward to welcoming you.
